San Diego County Credit Union is Hiring a Data Architect Near Center, CA

Position Summary:

The Data Architect is responsible for delivering results using their creativity and results-oriented critical thinking to meet complex challenges and develop new strategies for acquiring, analyzing, modeling, and storing data. The Data Architect works with business and technical leaders to help develop and utilize the latest technology and information management methodologies to meet our requirements for effective logical data modeling, metadata management, and database warehouse domains. Maintains quality service standards set by the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data
  • Examines and identifies database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming
  • Prepares accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams
  • Provides recommendations to strategic plans and reviews, prepare and complete action plans, implement production and quality standards, resolve problems, identify trends, determine system improvements, and implement change
  • Oversees the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions
  • Offers support by responding to system problems promptly
  • Forecasts requirements, budgets projections, schedules expenditures, analyzes variances, and initiates corrective actions
  • Studies organizational mission, goals, and business drivers, and confers with senior management to understand information requirements
  • Researches and properly evaluates sources of information to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability
  • Define and utilize statistical methods to solve industry-specific problems in varying fields, such as economics and engineering
  • Prepares detailed reports for management and other departments by analyzing and interpreting data
  • Designs conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
  • Ensures security of all information and computer systems and digital data
  • Ensures adherence to government regulations and guidelines for technological systems and safeguarding of data
  • Assists the Data Engineer with implementation and maintenance of ETL processes.
  • Contributes to infrastructure design and integration of internet computing systems by analyzing information requirements, studying business operations and user-interface requirements, and directing the development of physical databases
  • Confirms architecture capability and flexibility to support high availability web applications by developing analytical models and completing validation tests
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide after-hours support as needed
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field and experience
  • 7 years of proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst or similar role to include previous experience as a software developer in a data management role
  • Proficient with Data Governance/Data Lineage tools similar to Microsoft Purview
  • Experience designing cloud data repositories similar to Microsoft OneLake
  • Proven experience with software architecture and design
  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, D3.js, and R)
  • Experience working with private and sensitive personal information
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles
  • Adaptability, curiosity, proven analytical skills, and problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to present technical information to fellow technical professionals as well as non-technical peers
  • Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed
  • Able to compile and organize statistical information retrieved and present findings to management
